Teresa Pitt Green

Teresa Pitt Green has been a publishing executive and, later, owner of a small business developing enterprising authors and small enterprises in creative programming as well as managing institutional transitions from paper to digital formats. She is a trained mediator.

Teresa has been developing and offering resources and programs to integrate faith into recovery from abuse for over a decade. Her focus has been on facilitating a mutually beneficial dialogue between persons, such as clergy and survivors. This dedication to promoting trauma-informed pastoral care and awareness within the Church is based on a goal to create greater breadth of welcome for survivors and their families among each other, in parishes, and in other settings such as health care.

Teresa’s work includes collaborations with all those wounded by abuse in the Church, including survivors, family members, clergy and ministries, leadership and laity. She shares wisdom with those in other faiths and traditions seeking to promote the same healing, and works with survivors and ministries worldwide.

Teresa has written several books and over 100 articles, as well as scripts and workshop programs. She has presented to activist groups, lay groups, diocesan and scholar audiences, as well as the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Conference of Major Superiors of Men, and others. She eschews media and publicity for this work in accordance with the principles shared in Spirit Fire, to preserve a safe space for persons whose suffering has often served the agenda of others – but she has accepted interviews where it is likely a message of healing and hope may be carried to others.

Teresa is one of several founders of The Healing Voices Magazine, which was launched in 2014 and first published in 2015. She served for ten years on a diocesan advisory board and currently serves in the leadership of the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force.

Teresa is a survivor of clergy abuse.
